Patient Participation Group (PPG)
What is a PPG?
A PPG is a group entirely made up of registered patients who come together to work with their GP practice to help improve services. PPGs are based on co-operation between practice staff and patients.
What can a PPG do?
- Give the practice staff and patients the opportunity to, where possible, share decision-making in the running of the practice.
- Provide a means for practice staff to inform patients about the reality of running a GP surgery.
- Hold health awareness and information events, and carry out patient surveys.
- Help to improve practice facilities, such as the waiting room
For more information on the PPG, please contact the surgery today or have a read of our PPG Leaflet.
Since its formation this year, the PPG has provided great insight into the experience of SMG from the patients' viewpoint. As a result improvements have been made already, including an addition to the patient toilets and installation of a new electric door to the waiting room.
