Minor Injuries Unit
Open: 8:30am - 6:30pm Monday to Friday
Sleaford Medical Group provides a Minor Injuries Unit for both patients and non-patients of the surgery. The injury must have occurred within the last 48 hours.
The service is provided by our Practice Nurses who have skills and experience in dealing with minor accidents and emergencies.
We can treat:
- minor cuts and grazes
- cuts needing stitches
- acute sprains and strains
- acute sports injuries
- acute burns/scolds
- removal of foreign bodies, eg. splinters, fish hooks, cotton buds from ears, earring butterflies
- minor head injury
- minor limb injury
- foreign bodies in eyes
If you have a minor injury, please book in at reception. The length of your wait will depend on the seriousness of your condition, but there may also be a wait depending on the availability of the nurse - the nurses have pre-booked clinics they must also attend to, but can prioritise urgent cases.
The 111 advice line and Out of Hours service will also always be available if you require non-life-threatening help or advice, particularly if outside of the above opening times.
Please note; Sleaford Medical Group is not an NHS Walk-In Centre for general Doctors' appointments. This service is only for minor injuries to relieve pressure on Accident and Emergency Departments.
